February 15, 2025 – Brian Yang has claimed his second world championship in the 2025 Caribou Math Contest, Congratulations to Brian on this incredible achievement!

The majority of Grade 6 students in Ontario failed the province’s standardized math test
The latest data from the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) reveals that only 59% of Grade 3 students have met the provincial mathematics standards. This figure drops to 47% for Grade 6 students, while just over half, 52%, of Grade 9 students reached the standard. These statistics, confirmed by the Ministry of Education, indicate that math test scores have shown no significant improvement since 2018. In response, the Minister of Education has recommended that students enhance their math skills by participating in after-school tutoring programs.
